Hi Dr. Johnson,
I’m a 45 year old female who has (had) nearly perfect skin. On November 3, I went to my dermatologist here in Omaha for an unrelated matter, and pointed out a very faint red line on my face on my right upper cheek, about an inch below my right eye.
He said it was a spider angioma, and that he could get rid of it immediately with electrodessication. Regrettably, I agreed. The nurse numbed it with some xylocaine, and he remarked that because I was numb he could “really get it good”.
Now, over a month later I have a pink indented scar slightly larger than the head of a pin. I know it wouldn’t bother some people, but it really bothers me.
In retrospect I think he must have gone too deep/aggressively, and I also wonder if the fact that I have been a long term Retin A user may have been a factor (due to a thinner epidermis). Honestly the color doesn’t bother me, as I know it will fade eventually, but I don’t want to live with the pit/indentation permanently.
Do you think there is a laser treatment that would help resolve this? I appreciate any suggestions or input you might have.
Many thanks,
Amy Bianchini
