One Patient asked the below question:

“Can someone please help me make my decision? I am 34 and have acne scarring only on cheeks…two ice pick scars on one cheek and the other about 5 not as deep scars. I am trying to decide between Fraxel laser or fracional C02 laser skin resurfacing. The Palomar Lux1540, Smart Xide, and Active FX are apparently Non invasive and have no down time (less redness and doesn’t hurt nearly as bad, so I’ve been told) Which laser is better for acne scars and being I am only doing a spot treatment (not whole face) will I have discoloration where areas are treated?”

This is simply untrue. The facts are that you will experience moderate down time with all of the mentioned procedures. Actually, unless you have actually had each procedure no one is in a position to judge on speculation. The facts are that it depends on the energy level and density that the spot is treated that determines the recovery time. If you do 12 passes with Fraxel and 1 with the fractional C02 then maybe yes, the Fractional CO2 Laser will have less recovery time, but what about the results??? You need to see evidence of what any dermatologist(this being the key word) recommends. Pictures that are not pulled from some website are important as well as the reputation of the practice. There are great dermatologists that perform these procedures but there are also those who are just trying to earn some extra money. Do your research but remember that the down time and results that they promise are never guaranteed.
