I am seeking information on fractional CO2 procedures. Due to an acute case of insomnia over 2 years, I had a lot of acidic fluid around the eyes causing the skin to be very red, swollen, and loose. Now that the condition is gone, the swelling is also mostly gone (I clean my eyes once or twice a day) but the skin has become loose (definitely looks different from the rest of the skin on my face, which does not have wrinkles) and after I take a shower, it looks like a dried prune. Since I use lotion, the wrinkles are not terribly bad even when I smile (people don't necessarly say I have wrinkles) but if I squint, the wrinkles come out due to skin damage and my eyes look 10 years older. I'm just concerned that, as I age, this will only get worse.

Can fractional CO2 therapy heal skin damage due to excessive fluid around the eyes caused by acute insomnia? Can I use it to prevent unnatural aging due to the insomnia?

I am having my second dot laser treatment this week. I had one a year ago but did not think it helped my upper lip lines that much--or maybe they just got worse in the following year and a half. He plans to use lightest setting on my face other than upper lip lines. He also does regular co2 but says I am not ready for that although I think it would help my lip lines more. Mine are what he says moderate. Anyway, I plan on getting the lips done a second time after two months. Does anyone have any success with this laser? Also, will it help the dynamic lip wrinkles which I have a little? Thanks.

I've developed pimples approximately 4 months ago and it never stops ever since. It leaves scars on my cheeks too. I went to see a doctor who later on prescribed me with some antibiotics to stop the pimples from forming. After a week, nothing much has changed neither improved. I've been applying a so-called most preferred scar cream for almost 6 weeks now. I could see slight fading of the scars, yet still unsatisfactory one. I'm thinking of going for a fractional CO2 laser treatment, which I pressume to give the most immediate, effective result by far. But I still have doubts over its potential side effects such as sunburn-like skin, swelling and hyperpigmentation. Any opinion about this? Thank you.

Has anyone heard of using the fractional CO2 treatment for cutis laxa in inner thighs? Does it seem like something worth trying?

I am planning to have a fractional CO2 procedure in the near future. However I am confused by the various types - Fraxel Repair, Total FX, Dot, Ultrapulse. Each doctor claims what s/he has is the best (I have consulted with 4 doctors). How do I decide???!!! My issue is wrinkles, no acne scars. Caucasian with medium complexion.

I had a fractional procedure with deep and total fx a few days ago. although i really look like a monster, it has not been too bad as far as pain. i hate the ointment, but that is to be expected. i am having itching also... (also expected) surgeon has been doing a lot of these and was pretty aggressive.. (which i wanted) now i am 40 hours out and am having flu like symptoms with aching all over from my toes to my head. is this just part of the antiinflammatory response? i think it probably is, but i am freaking out a little. talked to dr yest and today but was feeling good except for the maddening itching at that point. elaine

RE: Shary (8 days after procedure and worried about redness)

Traditional ablative CO2 resurfacing (full-coverage/non-fractional) procedures typically produce the most dramatic results, but have always had a much longer recovery period (5+ weeks)than fractional procedures (approx. 5 days.)

When your surgeon "really let your lips have it", they probably used a very dense setting (80% or more) or made several passes over the same area--which gets closer to being a full-coverage CO2 treatment. Since you haven't posted any new messages since your procedure, (3 months as of this post), I would assume that the redness eventually went away and your healing has significantly improved. We would love to hear from you again to see how your healing process has progressed...

RE: Simran

Your practitioner was most likely afraid to use a more dense, powerful laser setting due to your darker skin-type (probably Type IV since you are of Indian descent), and thus you may not have received the full benefit of a more aggressive treatment. You should discuss your dissatisfaction with your doctor and request a more powerful follow-up treatment at a reduced fee. I bet they will choose to protect their reputation and your satisfaction by giving you a substantially reduced (or free) follow-up. I know I and my colleagues would.

I'm totally disappointed and not sure whether I should really go for second sitting if there is not much improvement anyways and its costing hefty amount. May be I can get similar results with less expensive treatments like MDA and chemical peels. Please guide if it really take long till results visible with laser or I should stop expecting any improvement.
